As the countdown to the 2023 general elections draws near, a civil society organisation, Human Rights Advancement, Development and Advocacy Centre (HURIDAC) is set to collaborate with the Lagos State government on the war against corruption in the state.

This was made public after a meeting between representatives of HURIDAC led by the Executive Assistant to the Executive Director and Project Officer, Hephzibah Mfon Enoidem, Akinsola Ibrahim and Media Consultant Nelson Ekujumi and the Lagos State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice Mr Moyosore Onigbanjo in his office in Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos on Thursday 12th May 2022.

The Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice Lagos State welcomed the HURIDAC team and pledged the cooperation and collaboration of the Ministry of Justice and its agencies with HURIDAC in the war against corruption, just as he promised to set up a joint technical team.

The HURIDAC team then intimated and invited the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice to chair its upcoming stakeholders meeting on anti-corruption footprints at designated local government council areas of Lagos State, an invitation he accepted.

The Honourable Commissioner also told the visiting HURIDAC team to liaise with the Lagos State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission (PCACC) for technical inputs when it becomes fully operational.

Recall that HURIDAC had in September 2021 surveyed people’s perception of corruption in five (5) local government council areas of Lagos State namely: Ajeromi-Ifelodun, Mushin, Ikorodu, Alimosho and Kosofe. The outcome of the survey was published later in the year and distributed to the general public.

HURIDAC, among other publications, has also translated the Lagos State Anti-corruption Law into pidgin English and Yoruba language for easy understanding by civil servants and the public who are critical stakeholders in the anti-corruption war in the state.
