A Former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Professor Bolaji Akinyemi, has alleged that South Africa is instigating the African Union to undermine ECOWAS following the military coup recorded in Niger Republic.

According to Bolaji Akinyemi, there is a video that is currently in circulation which showed an analysis on a South African television station which blamed President Bola Tinubu for the coup in the Niger Republic.

According to Bolaji Akinyemi, the South African Television claimed that Bola Tinubu’s presidency is illegitimate and that was the reason why the coup in the Niger Republic took place.

However, Bolaji Akinyemi blasted South African Television for taking such a position when the current South African president has a corruption case against him.

Bolaji Akinyemi went on to state that a judicial panel had already found the South African president guilty of the anti-corruption charges levelled against him, but he used the majority party in parliament to overturn the decision of the judicial panel.

Bolaji Akinyemi was of the opinion that South Africa is in no position to blame Bola Tinubu for the coup in Niger Republic when South Africa has its own issues.
