MIKHAIL Kadiri, the coroner overseeing the Sylvester Oromoni case, has absolved Dowen College and its students of any involvement in the late student’s terrible death.

Following a two-year investigation and a six-hour hearing at a magistrate court in Lagos’s Ogba district, Kadiri blamed Oromoni’s death on sepsis caused by infections of the lungs and kidneys caused by an ankle injury.

Dowen College and its pupils were not held directly accountable, even though parental and medical negligence were recognized as contributory factors.

Oromoni was laid to rest on Saturday at the family’s compound at Ogbe-Ijoh, Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State, after two years of fighting for justice.

He was born on 4 December 2009 and died on 30 November 2021.

The burial attracted several dignitaries, including human rights lawyer Chief Femi Falana (SAN).
