AS part of efforts geared towards strengthening its leadership structure the Controller-General of Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), CGC Bashir Adewale Adeniyi has approved the appointment of two Deputy Controllers General (DCGs) as members of the Customs Management Board.
The CGC also approved the redeployment of four Assistant Controllers General (ACGs) in order to fortify strategic operations and optimize service delivery across various departments.
The moves were on one hand sequel to the recent statutory retirement of some officers as well as aimed at bolstering the Service’s leadership.
According to the National Public Relations Officer (NPRO), CSC Abdullahi Maiwada, the acting CGCs, JP Ajoku and BM Jibo, are to take charge of the Service’s Strategic Research and Policy, and Free Trade Zone and Industrial Incentives, respectively.
DCGs Ajoku and Jibo have, however, been enjoined to steer the Service towards enhanced efficiency and effectiveness and bring their diverse expertise and proven track records to bear, by injecting fresh momentum into critical aspects of the Service’s revenue generation, anti-smuggling, and trade facilitation.
The redeployed ACGs are I. Q Ogbudu; I. O Babalola; H. J Women and A. Abdulazeez, with their respective postings as follows: Excise, Free Trade Zone and Industrial Incentives; Zonal Coordinator, Zone ‘B’; Zonal Coordinator Zone ‘A’ and Zonal Coordinator, Zone ‘D’
In his congratulatory message to the officers, the CGC commended them for their dedication, even as he urged them to embrace their new roles with renewed commitment.
Adeniyi emphasized the pivotal role of the NCS in advancing national interest and called on the newly appointed and redeployed officers to uphold the highest standards of integrity, professionalism, and service delivery.
He said that the Nigeria Customs Service remained steadfast in its commitment to
safeguarding the nation’s economic interests, fostering international trade, and ensuring compliance with regulatory frameworks, adding that, “With this strategic reinforcement of its leadership, the Service is poised to navigate evolving challenges and seize opportunities for growth and development”.
