Day-Old Baby Recovered From Lagos Dustbin
The Lagos State Police Command has said a day-old baby was recovered from a dustbin after its mother dumped it there.
Police Command’s spokesman, SP Benjamin Hundeyin said the baby was found wrapped in a polythene bag in a dustbin.
He did not disclose the location where the baby was found.
Hundeyin uploaded the photo of the baby on his Twitter handle on Thursday.
He said that save for the quick detention, the baby may have died, adding that the baby is doing fine.
Hundeyin appealed to ladies to prevent pregnancy, as it is better than killing the baby.
The police spokesman warned that infanticide is a crime and is punishable.
In his words: “A day old baby was found wrapped in a polythene bag in a dustbin. Save for quick detection, the baby would have died. The baby is doing fine. Prevent pregnancy. It’s better than killing the baby. Infanticide is a crime!”
