Eight Arrested As UNIMAID Lecturer Is Stabbed Dead In Office


A lecturer with the Department of Physical and Health Education, University of Maiduguri (UNIMAID), Dr. Kamar Abdulkadir, has been found dead in his office inside the university campus.

The university’s Director of Radio and Public Relations, Professor Danjuma Gambo, confirmed the unfortunate incident in a late-night press release.

Professor Gambo urged staff and students to remain calm and go about their normal, legitimate businesses, assuring parents, guardians, and other stakeholders that the campus remains safe and secure for teaching, learning, and community service.

It was gathered that the lecturer was killed on Sunday when the assailants invaded his office, stabbed him with a knife, and hit him with a hammer, and he was later found dead with several injuries on his body.

Meanwhile, The Borno State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Nahum Keneth, said the Command has arrested eight persons in connection with the suspected murder of Dr Abdulkadir.

Nahum Keneth said that upon receiving the report of the incident, a Police team was deployed to the scene where the body of the lecturer was found dead in his office.

He stated that the Police immediately launched an investigation into the matter and arrested eight suspects in connection with the murder, adding that his vehicle was also not found at the scene and was suspected to have been whisked away by the assailants.
