Elder Taiye Ayorinde Celebrates 89th Birthday In Style

AN unprecedented crowd of well-wishers and vehicular traffic witnessed in Ekotedo Community of Ibadan on 30th March 2024 would remain a reference point for a long time in the minds of residents of the community.

The 89th birthday of the Chairman of Yoruba World Assembly (YWA), Elder (Dr.) Taiye Ayorinde at his residence in Ekotedo, Adamashingba, Mokola, Ibadan, drew the attention of prominent figures and dignitaries within and outside of the state.

The attendees included royal fathers, Oba Tomson Adeyeye Oyetunji, Alajawa of Ajawa; Engr. Adesunmibo Olanrewaju, Onigbaro of Igbaro; and HRM Oba (Dr.) Samuel Adedayo Faleye, Agila of Igila; the Chairman of TESCOM, Akin Alamu; representatives of Ibadan Council of Baale, as well as friends and family members of the celebrant.

Various speakers at the occasion eulogized the virtues of the celebrant, Elder (Dr.) Taiye Ayorinde JP, a veteran journalist, public relations guru and cultural icon.

In his remarks, Mr Akin Alamu said if one calls the celebrant a veteran journalist, he/she will be right, if one refers to him as a cultural ambassador, the person will equally be right, if another person qualifies him as an encyclopedia of knowledge, such a person will be stating the obvious.

In his remark, the celebrant appreciated God for His faithfulness throughout his life and also appreciated the distinguished guests who honoured the occasion with their presence.

The highlights of the celebration were the thanksgiving service anchored by Venerable David Aina of the Christ Church, Mapo; the presentation of gifts, cutting of birthday cake, followed by installation of the new chiefs, and distribution of palliatives to the widows and widowers within the community.
