Ex-Gov Alao-Akala’s Aide de Camp Commits Suicide In Oyo

A serving Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) has reportedly committed suicide in Ogbomosho, Oyo State. He was aged 50.

According to sources, DCP Gbolahan Oyedemi, who served as the Aide de Camp to late Adebayo Alao-Akala during his eleven-month tenure as governor (January to December 2006), was said to have returned home for Easter celebration. 

His death was discovered in the house on Monday afternoon; however, it is still unknown who found the body.

The senior police officer who was celebrated for his role during the #EndSARS protest died in a mysterious circumstance.

It was gathered that the Police top shot lived alone in the house and it could not be established as at press time if he was married

The Petros Academy Street, Federal Lowcost area in Ogbomoso where the Police chief lived had been cordoned off although groups of sympathizers were seen, whispering quietly about the situation.

“Sometimes he came home with Police security, in fact, l saw him recently driving personally into his beautiful mansion”, said a resident of the area. 

A United Nations medalist in Law Enforcement and Administration, Olugbemi was Divisional Police Officer at Ilupeju, Area Commander at Ajah in Lagos.

He had received training in Terrorism and Counter-Terrorism in Operations, had received several awards in Nigeria and abroad, and he had been celebrated in the media for several good deeds in the course of his career.

Olugbemi was a graduate of the University of Lagos and the Olabisi Onabanjo University respectively.
