A Lagos State Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court sitting in Lagos earlier today sentenced a gateman, Sunday Happiness, to triple life imprisonment for sexually assaulting his employer’s children, ages 10 and eight.

Justice Abiola Soladoye sentenced Sunday, who served as both steward and gateman with the family, to life imprisonment on each of the three count charges bordering on defilement and sexual assault by penetration.

Justice Soladoye held that the prosecution had sufficiently proved the charges against the convict.

According to her: “The defendant started assaulting the children and the older child reported to his grandmother to caution him as he was touching the sister inappropriately.

When the female child was asked, she informed the grandma that the defendant was also touching her brother inappropriately.

“The matter was reported to the CeCe Yara Foundation and subsequently to the Police.

“The defendant denied touching the children but his demeanor was cold, he is a bare-faced liar showing to be a pathological liar.”

The judge held that the ingredients of defilement and sexual assault by penetration were thoroughly satisfied under sections 137 and 261 of the Criminal Code Law of Lagos State by the prosecution.

According to her, the convict was a bisexual houseboy who was desperate and wicked.

“The defendant is a sexual terrorist who ravished children.

“A disloyal worker, egoistic, a terrible person whose sexual perversion is unacceptable.

“His actions are beastly and should be locked away for life because his conduct is utterly disgraceful,” she held.

The court urged parents to be watchful admonishing that the care for children should never be taken lightly.

Justice Soladoye thereafter sentenced the convict to life imprisonment on each of the three-count charges, after she found him guilty.

She held that the sentencing should run concurrently and the convict should have his name registered in the Lagos State Sexual Offences Register.

The state counsel, Mrs. Olufunke Adegoke presented four witnesses and tendered three exhibits in proof of the case while the convict testified as sole witness.

The prosecution submitted that the defendant committed the offences in 2020 on Jaye Oyedotun Street, Magodo, Lagos.
