KEBBI State governor, Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris, Kauran Gwandu, says his administration will soon distribute two hundred truckloads of grains free to the people of the state.
This, according to the governor, is aimed at significantly reducing the economic hardship in the society.
Governor Nasir Idris made the announcement at the Haliru Abdu Stadium, Birnin Kebbi while addressing hundreds of vigilantes at the launch of an appeal fund organised by the Vigilance Group yesterday Thursday 7th March, 2024.
Comrade, Dr. Nasir Idris remarked that his administration is aware of the present situation nationwide and would do everything possible to provide succour to the populace.
The governor explained that the assorted grains were not obtained from the federal government but procured by the state government for distribution free to the people.
He assured the people of the state that his administration would continue to touch their lives positively in all sectors of the economy.
”What you have seen is just the beginning, we will never be deterred by naysayers nor be distracted by what they write against us.
‘”We will continue to transform our state capital, Birnin Kebbi like any modern state capital, just as also we will do more for Argungu, Yauri, Zuru and all other local government areas of Kebbi State,” he assured.
Kauran Gwandu also announced that his administration has purchased solar-powered and CNG water pumping machines now being distributed free to farmers.
According to Dr Idris, the invaluable gesture is to encourage more people to go back to the farm, to produce more food and guarantee food security.
On security, Governor Nasir Idris lauded vigilante members for complementing the efforts of conventional security agencies in the state in securing the lives and property of the citizenry.
He promised to render sustained material and financial support to the security outfit.
“We will get you more tactical gadgets and additional operational motorcycles for effective performance”.
The improved security in Zuru and Yauri, according to the governor, has facilitated the return of farmers to their farms, which led to increased food production in those areas which were hitherto abandoned as a result of insecurity.
He announced the donation of Fifty Million Naira (N50,000,000.00) to the state Vigilante Group of Nigeria to bolster their routine activities.
The governor also used the opportunity to reply to critics, saying that the vehicles he purchased for the state Assembly members and commissioners were all done within the ambit of the law, pointing out that his administration had earlier bought vehicles for the security operatives in the state.
Earlier, the State Commandant of Vigilante Group, Sanusi Ibrahim Geza, expressed appreciation to the governor for his continuing magnanimity to the security outfit and other donors at the launching.
