Ministry Sets up IMC For Football League

The Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports has set up an Interim Management Committee (IMC) to manage the domestic football league in Nigeria.

The eleven-man IMC is headed by a former Director-General of the National Sports Commission, Gbenga Elegbeleye.

A seasoned journalist and the Chairman of Akwa United, Paul Bassey is the Vice Chairman while Davidson Owumi, the former Enugu Rangers boss will serve as Head of Operations.

In a press statement made available to your authoritative newsmen on Friday, the Sports Ministry explained that the details of their terms of reference will be made public in due course.

PRESS STATEMENT

In line with the 10-year football Master Plan as approved by President Muhammadu Buhari for the revitalization of the Domestic League, an 11-man Interim Management Committee (IMC) is hereby set up to oversee the affairs of the League until a proper professional League Board is put in place statutorily.

Members of the IMC are as follows –

  1. Gbenga Elegbeleye – Chairman
  2. Paul Bassey – Vice Chairman
  3. Davidson Owumi – Head of Operations
  4. Kunle Soname
  5. Daniel Amokachi
  6. Calvin Emeka Onwuka
  7. Aliyu Adamu
  8. Rep of the NFF.
  9. Rep of the Nigeria Police Force
  10. Barrister Danladi Ibrahim.
  11. Olumide Bamiduro. Secretary

Terms of reference of the Committee will be announced shortly.
