OPERATIVES of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have intercepted seven containers bearing one million, two hundred and twenty-nine thousand, four hundred bottles of codeine syrup worth over Nine Billion, Eight Hundred and Thirty-Five Million, Two Hundred Thousand Naira at Onne Ports.
This is coming barely three weeks after seizing six thousand, one hundred and twenty-five cartons of codeine syrup containing one million and fifty thousand bottles of the opioid worth over seven billion, three hundred and fifty million naira in street value, at the Port Harcourt Ports complex, Onne, Rivers State.
Chairman of the agency, Brig Gen. Buba Marwa (Rtd) commended all the officers, men and women of the various formations of the agency that had been working on the targeted containers for months for their diligence, vigilance and professionalism.
He equally praised the support received from other stakeholders at the ports that enabled the seamless and successful operations in the course of targeting the shipments.
