Acting General Manager of Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan, Dimeji Lawal, has emphatically declared that the club will never be demoted from the elite league at the end of the ongoing season.

The ex-international also expressed excitement over the 2-0 victory recorded by the Oluyole Warriors over Enyimba International FC of Aba in Monday’s matchday 25 encounter.

Speaking after the match played at the Lekan Salami Stadium, the former Golden Eaglets and Flying Eagles winger expressed dismay over the talk of relegation for the team by some of its fans.

“I laugh when I hear people talk about relegation fears for 3SC. When you check the table, you noticed that the difference between us and the teams ahead of us, particularly from the fifth position, is just six points, so who says we cannot still climb to the top spot on the log?

“In football, nothing is impossible. We are not ruling out the possibility of ending among the top teams at the end of the season, but ultimately, I want to assure them (fans), that we will end up in a good position at the end of the season.

“Presently on the table, we are above about nine teams and we cannot afford to sleep so as not to slip down the ladder, said the 3SC acting GM, who also doubles as the Team Manager of the Oluyole Warriors.

He, therefore, asked for the full support of the entire fans of the club, stressing that the best way to encourage the team was for the fans to always stand solidly behind the team.

On the victory over the Peoples’ Elephants, Kabongo, as the former Super Eagles player is fondly called, described the win as special not because the team won, but because it was against a big team like Enyimba.

“In Nigeria today, Enyimba is a very big team, not minding their present position on the table, they remain a top team, so beating a team like Enyimba is not a small deal”, said the ex-Super Eagles player.
