Oil Bunkering: Army Gives EFCC Kudos

The Commanding Officer, 6 Division Garrison, Nigerian Army, Brigadier-General Suleiman Tilawan has commended the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on professionalism and integrity, in the fight against corruption within the Niger-Delta region, especially in the areas of illegal oil bunkering and other economic crimes.

Brigadier-General Tilawan gave the commendation on Wednesday, 30th March 2022 while on a courtesy visit to the Port Harcourt Zonal Command of the Commission.

Tilawan said that the purpose of his visit was to consolidate the existing relationship between the Nigerian Army and the EFC and foster stronger synergy with the Commission in his new role as Commanding Officer, 6 Division, Nigerian Army.

“I have always heard of EFCC, so I am here today to see you in person. I must commend you on your mandate and for exercising your powers and duties in fighting crimes and oil bunkering, may God also bless and reward you for these tireless efforts”, he said.

Continuing, Tilawan noted that, “the work of EFCC and the military are geared towards the same direction so that we can have a functional country and I am happy with the kind of cooperation given in our collective work towards achieving the same objective”.

In his response, Port Harcourt’s Zonal Commander, EFCC, Assistant Commander of the EFCC, ACE Nwanneka Nwokike, thanked Tilawan and assured the Army of more support and cooperation.

Nwokike thanked the Nigerian Army for believing in the Commission and promised that all cases of oil theft handed over to the EFCC will be attended to swiftly.

Thank you for your efforts in arresting and handing over illegal oil thieves alongside trucks and products. We are all in this fight together. Anytime you need us, please don’t hesitate to call on us, ” he said.
