Omisore: APC Is Dancing On Bola Ige’s Grave — Group

A caucus within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, The Osun Progressives (TOP), has condemned an alleged attempt by some unnamed leaders of the party to foist a former deputy governor in the state on the party as its National Secretary.

Adelowo Adebiyi, chairman of TOP, in a statement, said the group will not refrain from sounding a note of warning to an unnamed APC leader who he said has embraced a fair-weather friend, who, according to the group, “is carrying the albatross of complicity in the death of our leader, Chief Bola Ige”.

The statement titled: “Omisore’s Secretary Ambition: APC Should Stop Dancing On Bola Ige’s Grave”, further stated that the group members owe a duty to caution leaders and other members of the party on the forthcoming National Convention of the party, as regards the ambition of Senator Iyiola Omisore.

“Omisore joined our party in 2021. Before then, he had been a consistent antagonist of our tendencies. He was one of the military politicians who found abode in the AD (Alliance for Democracy) before he joined the PDP (People’s Democratic Party) when his inordinate ambition could not be realised. He was in PDP between 2002 and 2018. He joined SDP (Social Democratic Party) in 2018 to contest the governorship election where he lost to Governor Gboyega Oyetola. He joined the APC to save his face.

“It is unfortunate that a set of people have found an ally in a person described as a wolf in wolf clothing’ by Chief Adebisi Akande, who said Omisore crept into his life like silent cancer. It is more unfortunate that the leaders, among whom are two governors in the South-West, are supporting a stranger who does not share or believe in the progressive’s ideology to take over the Secretariat of the party.

“We condemn and reject in its entirety, the selfish imposition clothed in consensus for Omisore to become the National Secretary of the party. It is crystal clear that the leaders who ratified Omisore are only interested in protecting their selfish interests at the expense of the wellbeing and progress of APC.”

The group, believe to be loyal to the current Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, further observed that the alleged undemocratic behaviour of some party leaders is becoming an albatross to the conduct of the operation of APC and that such may cause untold catastrophes and disaster if not curbed.

“The way the few leaders carry on with the affairs of the party by taking for granted the feelings of other party members may cause APC self-immolation as the PDP had experienced.

“The few leaders, especially in these circumstances, have behaved in a worse manner than the ‘Yahoo-Yahoo governors’ as christened by Governor Rotimi Akeredolu.

“The Osun Progressives (TOP) wishes to put on record the fact that there was nowhere a stakeholders meeting on the consensus of who to push forward for the position of National Secretary was held. If such is held, no rational member of the Progressives family will opt for Omisore in Osun. Only characters who do not know the essence of what the progressives family is all about and are ignorant of history will make such flippant decisions.

“If Governor Gboyega Oyetola will not mind being an associate of an alleged murderer and sponsor of many killings in the state, we at the TOP will not join him and we are telling the whole world that we are not going to join those dancing on Uncle Bola Ige’s grave with his alleged killer”, the group stated.
