Two persons were reportedly injured after a Toyota Hiace bus with registration number EKY 888 XW and a train had a collision at the Ilupeju Bye-pass, Lagos, on Tuesday, 10 May.
The timely response of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) averted a disaster that could have led to the loss of lives as it swiftly responded to the train accident.
An eye witness said all vehicles were stopped at the railway crossing but the driver of the ill-fated bus refused to obey the traffic officers at the scene thereby ramming into the moving train.
Luckily, there was no record of loss of life aside from two adult males who reputedly sustained injury and were administered first aid treatment by the LASEMA’s paramedics before being taken to the general hospital for further medical attention.
The bus was taken off the railway line with the aid of LASEMA’s light tow truck and was taken to Railway Police Station, Mushin, thereby restoring normalcy around the rail track.
Other responders at the scene were the Nigeria Police Force, LASTMA Officers, and Lagos State Neighborhood Safety Corps.
