Waldrum Invites Five U20 Ladies To Super Falcons

The head coach of Nigeria’s Super Falcons, Randy Waldrum has invited five players from the U-20 women’s team that played at the just concluded FIFA U-20 World Cup in Costa Rica into the national team.

The five players invited are Esther Onyenezide, centre back and captain Blessing Oluwatosin Demehin, right back Jumoke Alani, left back Rofiat Imuran, and midfielder Deborah Abiodun.

They have been invited to replace Sweden based duo of Halimatu Ayinde and Ngozi Okobi-Okeoghene, Russia based duo of Francisca Ordega and Macleans Chinonyerem and Asisat Oshoala who is still out injured.

The invited players will take part in the double header friendly matches between the Super Falcons and the United States of America women’s national team.

Meanwhile, eight players plying their trade in Nigeria have also been invited. Goalkeeper Christy Ohiaeriaku from Edo Queens, Robo Queens forward Monday Gift and Esther Ogbonna Akudo from Rivers Angels complete the list of eight local players.

With visas secured, the eight home-based players and officials are due to depart Nigeria for the United States on Tuesday night to unite with foreign professionals ahead of Saturday’s first match in Kansas City.

Nigeria will battle the reigning World champions in their preparation for the 2023 FIFA World Cup, with the first clash at the Childrena’s Mercy Park in Kansas City, Kansas on 3rd September, and then have a go at each other once more at the Audi Field in Washington, D. C. on 6th September.
