A 27-year-old man has allegedly hacked his father to death for daring to reprimand him.

The deceased, Mumuni Ibrahim, Ogun State Police Command said in a press statement, got back home from work as a night guard on 30th March 2022, and was disgusted that his son, Ibrahim Sikiru, was still in bed when he should have been up and about.

He thought it was not out of place to continue to teach him some very important virtues of decent living, and reprimanded him, unknown to him that he had incurred the son’s wrath.

The murderous man, it was learnt, in expressing his deprecation to his father’s action, went for a cutlass and macheted his father severally.

According to the statement, signed by the Command’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, “The suspect
was arrested following a complaint lodged at the Onipanu Divisional Headquarters by one Abiodun Sunday, a neighbour to the deceased.

“Upon the report, the DPO, CSP Bamidele Job, quickly mobilized his men and moved to the scene, where the suspect was arrested and victim rushed to General Hospital for treatment”

The PPRO stated further, “The man, who is strongly suspected to be a cultist, has no reasonable explanation for his action when interrogated”, adding that, “On the 31st of March, 2022, the victim gave up the ghost while receiving treatment at a General Hospital, and the family insisted on burying him according to the dictate of his religion”.

The state Commissioner of Police, Lanre Bankole, has, however, ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to the Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for further investigation and diligent prosecution, Crime Puzzle gathered.
