Father, Son Allegedly Beat 43-Yr-Old Female Neighbour To Death In Ogun

A middle-aged man and his teenage son may have incurred the wrath of the law and are being held for culpable homicide.

The suspects, Chizoke Obiadada, 54 years, and his son, Michael, 17, had engaged a female neighbour in a fisticuff, thereby inflicting on her serious internal injuries 

The victim, identified as 43-year-old Tope Owoade, was said to be bleeding profusely from the womb and in her private part, resulting in her death. 

The arrest of the duo of father and son, the Ogun State Police Command Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Omolola Odutola said in a press statement, was precipitated by a report made to the Ogijo Police Station by the late woman’s husband, Isiaka Owoade. 

In his statement, Isiaka said that a disagreement ensued when his wife, who deals in the sale of cow skin (Ponmo), cautioned her assailants against sitting on the table where she displayed her wares. 

He said the ugly incident occurred on 28 March, a day prior to his arrival from a journey, during which the deceased recounted her ordeal in the hands of her assailants. 

According to the late woman’s narrative to her husband, trouble started at about 8:30 pm on the fateful day, during which the suspects ganged up to beat her up. 

Isiaka further said that his wife was rejected by the management of two hospitals she was rushed to, Mainframe Private Hospital and Kunle Hospital in Atan-Agowa, and that she eventually died while being rushed to a government hospital. 

Based on the report, the Ogijo Divisional Police Officer (DPO) ordered the arrest of the culprits, who are currently undergoing a preliminary investigation. 

The state command’s spokesperson disclosed that the case would be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for discreet investigation, adding that efforts were being intensified to deposit the remains of the deceased at the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital (OOUTH) morgue in Sagamu, for post mortem examination.
