Four ‘Aiye’ Cult Members Arrested In Ogun

Four members of ‘Aiye’ cult group, alleged to have been responsible for the killing of one Segun Onifade in Ilaro, headquarters of Yewa-South Local Government Area of Ogun State on 20th April 2022 have been arrested by the Ogun State Police Command.

The suspects were, following the alleged criminal act, placed on the police wanted list.

The Ilaro Police Division on Sunday, 1st May 2022, reportedly got wind of a nocturnal meeting being held by the same ‘Aiye’ cult group at a hideout, behind Eleja Primary School, Igbo-Ewe area of Ilaro and swooped on them.

In a press statement issued by Ogun State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, “Upon receipt of the information, the DPO, CSP Olayemi Jacob, mobilised his men and moved to the scene where four of the suspects namely; Samson Jacob (a.k.a Cybog); Iyanu Kazeem Akande (aka omo Iyami); Adebayo Adeoluwa (a.k.a Dudu) and Yusuf Adelakun, were arrested.

Items said to have been recovered from the suspects were two cut-to-size locally made pistols, four live cartridges, one battle axe, five handsets, assorted charms, weeds suspected to be Indian Hemp and one unregistered red Bajaj motorcycle.

The state Commissioner of Police, Lanre Bankole, while ordering the immediate transfer of the suspects to the Anti- cultists Unit of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for discreet investigation, has directed that the war against cultism and other violent crime must be sustained to make the state a peaceful place for all to live.
