THERE are indications that the dethroned Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi may be reinstated by the incoming administration of the Governor-elect Abba Kabir Yusuf.

Presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Senator Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso, gave the hint in a viral video, saying the incoming government will revisit the dethronement of the 14th Emir of Kano.

Kwankwaso also noted that the balkanisation of the emirate would be reviewed by the government of Abba Yusuf, who is popularly known as Abba Gida-Gida.

Sanusi became Emir during Kwankwaso’s final tenure as governor but was dethroned by the outgoing Governor Abdullahi Ganduje, who was the deputy governor when the monarch was installed.

Sanusi was sacked on 9 March 2020, and banished from Kano to Loko, a remote village in Nasarawa State, pending investigation of the emirate’s expenses under his watch.

Ganduje had also split the emirate into five and appointed emirs to oversee each emirate.
