EX-SUPER player and coach, Emmanuel Amuneke has reacted for the first time after his erstwhile mate in the senior national team, Finidi George was picked for the coveted Eagles coaching job.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Monday announced George, who is presently the coach of Enyimba FC as the substantive coach of the Eagles.

Before Monday’s announcement, Amunike was widely touted to clinch the job. Sources close to NFF bigwigs had mentioned him as the favourite amongst the final three shortlist. George’s name was not in the mix.

However, days after the announcement, Amuneke seems to have unkind words for some unnamed NFF officials.

Hear him:

They succeeded in smearing my name in the media because of the Eagles’ job.

“They can continue with their propaganda, but I will remain disciplined. It’s not a do-or-die job.

“All those allegations made in the media online because of the Eagles job are obviously not true, but those who recommended candidates for the job know I will not be easily bullied. I know there is still bad blood with these officials, but it’s fine.”
