We’ll Declare Northern Independent If PDP Or APC Gives Igbo Man Tickets — Yerima Shettima
The president of Arewa Youths Forum, Shettima Yerima has vowed that Ndigbo will never rule Nigeria since they want Biafra.
Speaking after the group’s meeting in Kaduna, Shettima warned that if PDP or APC gives tickets to any South-Easterner he will officially declare Northern independent from Nigeria.
“We have resolved today, after our meeting, that since South-East people want the Republic of Biafra and are attacking Northerners in their region in the name of Biafra, they will never have access to Aso Rock!.
“We, the Northern youths, are warning today that if the two major political parties give an Igbo man the ticket, we will declare Northern independence from Nigeria.
“This issue of Biafra by Igbos has cost this country a lot. Why should anyone think the same people will rule this country even after the tension they’ve created already”, he stated.
Parties are currently preparing to elect flag bearers for various positions ahead of the 2023 general elections. While the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has thrown the contest for its presidential ticket open to all zones in the country, the rival All Progressives Congress (APC) has maintained a stoic silence on the issue. Though going by antecedent, the party is not likely to zone its ticket to any particular region or zone. A number of politicians from both parties have indicated an interest in the coveted seat.
Giving of the presidency to South East man will automatically quench the agitation for state of Biafra. Igbo man will make it difference while in Asorock.
