Consulted To Unravel Disappearance Of N1,000, Herbalist Ended Up Raping Teenage Client
A herbalist who was consulted to spiritually identify who stole a meagre One Thousand Naira (N1,000.00) in a hairdressing shop, has allegedly ended up betraying his clients by raping one of them, a 17-year-old girl.
The nine apprentices, amongst whom one of them was suspected to be the itching fingers, dragged themselves before the herbalist in his Referefu area of Oja-Odan, Ogun State, only for the victim to get more than she bargained for.
The victim (name withheld), whose complaint to the Oja-Odan Police Division led to the arrest of the herbalist, stated that she was the third to be attended to by the herbalist.
According to the complainant, after attending to the first two clients in his consultation room, collecting a fee of N700, when it was her turn, the suspect held her down and forcefully had carnal knowledge of her.
The suspect, however, reportedly instilled fear in the victim, threatening that she would die mysteriously should she tell anyone.
The state Police Command Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi stated in a statement, “Upon her complaint, the DPO, CSP Gabriel Ikechukwu, detailed his detectives to go after the suspect and he was arrested”.
Oyeyemi further said that the victim was immediately taken to the General Hospital, Oja- Odan, where the doctor on duty confirmed that the girl had been defiled, adding that, on interrogation, the herbalist confessed to committing the crime.
Eighteen-Eleven Media gathered that the state Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Bankole, has directed that the suspect be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation and diligent prosecution.
