Eight Kidnapped CAC Members Rescued
THE Ondo State Police Command has confirmed the rescue of eight out of the twenty-five kidnapped choir members of the Christ Apostolic Church, Oke Igan, Akure, Ondo State.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Mrs Funmilayo Odunlami, confirmed the development via a WhatsApp message. She posted “Good news!, eight victims rescued, effort is on to rescue others unhurt”, she said on a WhatsApp platform.
Eighteen-Eleven Media had earlier today reported the ugly development, pointing out that the church members, including two members of a family, were said to be on their way to a burial programme of a parent of one of their members when they were suddenly halted within the Ose Local Government Area of the state.
The medium further scooped that the incident occurred at 3 p.m. on Friday while the victims were commuting to Ifon.
The vehicle conveying the kidnapped choir members was seen abandoned on the roadside.
The Owo-Ifon-Benin Road, which is notorious for kidnapping and armed robbery, is currently in deplorable condition.
