A suspected ritualist, Adebayo Azeez, has narrated how he and seven other members of the syndicate lured their victims to their deaths using the social media platform, “Mychat”.

Adebayo Azeez, the prime suspect in the murder of 35-year-old Adijat Solomon, told journalists yesterday at the Eleweran Police Headquarters in Ogun State how the gang members connived to lure their victims, especially women through “Mychat” to a ritual den in the Igbo-Olomi area of Atan-Ota.

The fugitive suspect, who was arrested, paraded alongside two others by the Commissioner of Police, CP Abiodun Alamutu, at the Police Officers’ Mess, Abeokuta, yesterday, said between September 2023  and January 2024 he was able to lure at least seven women to their untimely death through the social media platform

Recall that two self-acclaimed prophets of a white garment church and five others were arrested by the police for allegedly killing and dismembering Adijat Solomon in the Igbo-Olomi area of the state.

The suspects are Moses Abidemi Oluwo Samuel Monday; Prophet Peter Oluwalese; Akinwunmi Ifatosin; Prophet Jamiu Yusuf; Sheriff Agbai and Osojieahen Alionetouria, who were all recently paraded at the Police Headquarters, Eleweran.

But Azeez, while explaining his role in the murder of Adijat Solomon, said he conspired with Moses Awuraji and his wife Maria Awuraji, to lure her and one Olanrewaju Abodede, through the “Mychat” hook-up platform to the house of Moses at Igbo-Olomi, Atan, where they were killed and their bodies dismembered.

He explained further that whenever Moses contacted him that he needed a woman for ritual, he would go on the platform to chat with any lady for hook-up and if the lady agreed on the amount of money he wanted to pay, he would then invite her to Moses’ house in Igbo-Olomi, where they are killed and their bodies dismembered for ritual.

Azeez said, “I get the ladies from “Mychat”, which is a hook-up site whenever Moses Abidemi Awuraji said he needed a woman for a ritual; so I will go on the app and chat with the women for hook-ups.

“So, when they agree, we negotiate about the amount she wanted to collect and I would send my address to her to come to Atan-Ota. Immediately she said she was in Atan-Ota, I would contact Moses and tell him the lady was around and he would come over and we would take the lady to his house and we would entertain her with a soft drink before killing her inside his sitting room.

On the Adijat issue, when she came, she sat on the chair and we entertained her before asking Moses’ wife and one Oluwo to hold her legs and we strangled her on the neck to death. I have lured seven female victims through the hook-up platform to be killed, precisely from September 2023 to January 2024. I can say the exact amount they give me, sometimes they give me N30,000 or N40,000,” he added.

On his part, Moses Awuraji confessed that anytime he wanted women for ritual, he usually contacted Azeez, who would bring them to his house, where they killed and dismembered their bodies and both Oluwo Samuel and Alfa Ariwo (now at large) would come to take the parts of the body they wanted for ritual purpose.

“It is true he is the one that brings the victims. I will only be around when they kill the victim and I will be the one to give Oluwo Monday Samuel and Ariwo,” he noted.

Exhibits recovered from them include one blue Tecno Camon Phone – which was found with Maria, the wife of Moses.

Meanwhile, CP, Alamutu has sounded a note of warning to the youths to be wary of social media platforms they engage in, as some are used for criminal activities while also urging the youth for the umpteenth time to desist from criminal acts.

He opined that the Command was working assiduously to unravel the identity of other victims, appealing to any family who has its relative missing to come forward with the missing person’s photograph to the State Criminal Department, State CID Eleweran, Ogun State.

The CP assured that the suspects were ready to recognize the victims they killed if they saw their photographs.
