Lagos: Couple Arrested For Allegedly Beating Maid To Death

Police operatives in Lagos State have arrested a housewife, Nene Fortune, and her husband, Stephens, in connection with the death of their housemaid.

Joy Akom Adole was said to be living with the couple at their residence in the Bariga area of the state before her sudden death.

It was gathered that Joy started working with the couple in January 2022 and was being paid N15k per month. On 20th April 2022, the couple was said to have called the police to report that Joy had hanged herself.

They alleged that she ended it all following a misunderstanding with her madam, Fortune. However, when the police visited the scene, they found out that the deceased was probably tortured and might have died in the process.

The DPO led a team of homicide detectives to the house and they saw the housegirl hanging on a rope but the way she stood on the rope raised an eyebrow because it actually looked like it was a stage-managed event.
