Man, 52, Arrested While Attempting To Smuggle Indian Hemp Into Correctional Centre

….As Police  Arrest “Badoo”, Kano’s Most Wanted, Notorious Drug Dealer

PERSONNEL of the Nigeria Correctional Service (NCoS) attached to Kurmawa Correctional Centre on 27 April 2024 arrested Hamisu Mamuda, 52, of Samegu Quarters, Kumbotso Local Government Area of Kano State for being in possession of twelve nylon bags of dried leaves suspected to be Indian Hemp. 

The substance was wrapped in his jacket in an attempt to smuggle it into Kurmawa Correctional Centre with the intent of selling it to the inmates.

According to the Kano State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, “The suspect confessed to the crime and is currently cooling off his feet at the Command’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for discreet investigation”, stating further that, at the completion of investigation  the suspect others will be charged in court.

Meanwhile, the Kano State Command of the Nigeria Police Force has announced the arrest of 33-year-old most wanted and notorious drug dealer in the state, Sadam Mu’azu (popularly known as “Badoo“).

His arrest, alongside eight other members of his network on 22 April 2024 was sequel to complaints by members of his Tukuntawa Quarters residence and the adjoining communities. 

He was alleged of receiving and supplying various illicit drugs from the Eastern parts of the country and distributing same to vulnerable individuals, including youths and housewives.

A statement by SP Kiyawa disclosed that “Saddam has been on the wanted list of the command for a long, to curtail illicit drugs and related cases in Kano”.

Recovered from the syndicate were 11  parcels of dried leaves, suspected to be Indian Hemp, a cutlass, five operational motorcycles; the sum of One Hundred and Eleven Thousand, and Five Hundred Naira (N111,500:00), in different denominations, suspected to be proceeds of the gang’s criminal activities. 

Recounting how the ring was busted, the PPRO attributed it “to painstaking surveillance and community partnership initiative of the Commissioner of Police, CP Mohammed Usaini Gumel, who instructed dedicated teams of detectives, led by the Officer in Charge of Anti-Daba Unit of the Command, SP Hussaini Gimba, in conjunction with the DPO of Sharada Division, CSP Bilyaminu Bello.

“The CP had given a direct order to the teams to ensure the arrest of Badoo and all his associates”, the Command’s spokesman stated, adding that the suspects have all confessed to the crime.

The Commissioner of Police, however, appreciated the community partnership teamwork for the successes recorded in the arrest and investigation of “Badoo” and his accomplices. He also commended the personnel of Kurmawa Correctional Centre for a job well done, in ensuring the safety of the inmates.
