GHANA Football Association (GFA) has reappointed Otto Addo as the new black stars head coach ahead of an international friendly against Super Eagles of Nigeria billed for Marrakech, Morocco.

Addo’s re-appointment was confirmed by the GFA and Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund.

“Borussia Dortmund and talent coach Otto Addo will part ways in the summer as he embarks on his new role as coach for the Ghanaian national team,” the club said in a statement.
“We wish him nothing but the best as he embraces this exciting new chapter in his career!
“Thank you for everything, Otto!”

According to the GFA, Addo will be offered a 34-month contract with an option for a further 24 months.
The GFA further stated that he will be allowed by Dortmund to join Ghana for the March international window, after which he will travel back to the club to officially hand over and take up the job permanently in May this year.

Addo led the Black Stars to eliminate the Super Eagles in the qualifiers for the Qatar 2022 World Cup.

He left his position as Black Stars coach after the team crashed out in the group stage of the 2022 World Cup.

Following his departure, he was replaced by his former assistant Chris Hughton, who was fired after the Black Stars disastrous outing at the AFCON 2023. Addo’s re-appointment could best be described as the saying sticking with a winning team. With his impressive run against Nigeria in the playoffs leading to the Qatar World Cup in 2022 authorities would have thought it is better to get him back to continue the magic.
