WILLIAM Troost-Ekong could potentially join the Super Eagles for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers against South Africa and Benin Republic!

The player personally shared some insights in an interview with CNN.

He mentioned that he should be back and fit again in May, but he also expressed caution about rushing his recovery. At the tender age of 30, he understands the importance of being smart about his injuries and taking a cautious approach to ensure his long-term fitness.

Troost-Ekong acknowledged that while he would love to play at the end of this season, he prioritizes being 100% ready for the next season. He wants to make sure he’s fully recovered and in optimal condition to give his best performance.

By taking the time to focus on his recovery and not rushing back, Troost-Ekong is not only prioritizing his health but also ensuring that he can contribute effectively to the team in the future.

With Troost-Ekong’s experience and skills, his potential availability for the World Cup qualifiers could be a significant boost for the Super Eagles. Having him back in the lineup would provide valuable leadership and defensive prowess to the team.

Troost-Ekong sustained a hamstring injury during Nigeria’s second game against Ivory Coast and was subsequently rested for the final group game against Guinea-Bissau. He, however, played the rest of the tournament and emerged as the best player.
