Wilson Oruma Breaks Silence: ‘I Am Hale And Hearty’

EX-Nigerian international, Wilson Oruma has broken the silence over his purported ill health, saying he is hale and hearty.

There have been reports that the former Super Eagles midfielder had been hospitalised after suffering an unnamed illness.

But Oruma, in a viral video on Tuesday thanked Nigerians for showing concern for him, but said he is healthy.

He said: “What’s up, my people, much love. Thank you for everything – every support you have been giving to me.

“Thank you for the love you are showing to my family. We are healthy and sound. Thank you so much. I never knew people love so much like that. I appreciate and celebrate you all. Thank you so much.

“But as you can see, I am well and healthy. I’m good and look so cute. Today is the 2nd of May and I made this video today just to tell everyone that I am good and I have so much love for them. And I appreciate them so much.”

Oruma, 46, was part of the Nigeria under-17 team which won the 1993 FIFA U-17 World Championships, captaining his side and becoming the tournament’s top goalscorer with 6 goals.

He played 19 international matches over 11 years for Nigeria and was part of the team that participated in the 1998 FIFA World Cup, where he scored in the only appearance he made in the tournament against Paraguay.

He also was part of the squad that won the Olympic gold medal in 1996, a year after he debuted for Nigeria, and also a member of the Nigerian squad at the 2002 and 2006 Africa Cup of Nations, finishing both competitions in third place.
