Kebbi Gov Donates N3m, Two Bulls To Youth Corps Members

KEBBI State governor, Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris, Kauran Gwandu has donated the sum of Three Million Naira (N3,000,000.00) and two big bulls to the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members deployed to Kebbi State for national service.

The governor made the donation earlier today shortly after the swearing-in ceremony of the 2024 batch ‘A’ stream 2 corps members at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Dakingari, Suru Local Government Area.

The governor, who was represented by the Kebbi State Head of Service, Alhaji Sufyanu Garba Bena at the occasion, handed over the money and the two big bulls to the corps members as part of efforts to make their stay memorable.

Kauran Gwandu called on the corps members to uphold the goals of the NYSC scheme of national unity, integration and development.

Governor Idris also urged the corps members to pay attention and rededicate themselves to serving the nation diligently. 

Governor Idris said that the Land of Equity, Kebbi, has been known for its peaceful atmosphere for all categories of people irrespective of their religious or ethnic differences. 

‘Kebbi State has been known for peace. Your safety here is well assured. Already, various security agencies in the state have been directed to double their efforts towards giving maximum security to corps members “.

He affirmed that the state government would also do its best to ensure the general welfare of corps members posted to the state throughout their stay.

“The state government on its part will continue to do everything possible to see to your general welfare and wellbeing ‘ he said.

He congratulated the corps members for successfully scaling the rigours of academic pursuit and being found worthy in learning and character which qualified them to be mobilized for national service.

While commending the founding fathers of the scheme, the governor once again called on them to imbibe the spirit of hard work and remain faithful to the noble ideals of the founding fathers of the NYSC scheme. 

The Kebbi State Chief Judge who was represented by Justice Hassan Shehu Kuwa swore in the corps members.

Among the important personalities at the occasion include the State Coordinator for Zamfara State, Alhaji Abdulsalam Alhassan.

Earlier, the Kebbi NYSC State Coordinator, Mrs. Okolo Agatha Banki, welcomed the governor and all the corps members to the swearing-in ceremony of the 2024 Batch ‘A’ Stream 2 Corps Members deployed to serve in Kebbi State.

She opined  “This orientation course is combined with some corps members from Zamfara State dislodged to have their orientation camp here in Kebbi State ‘.

According to her, a total of 1,739 corps members were deployed to Kebbi State, 451 corps members from Zamfara State while 1,288 are for Kebbi State. 

She thanked the governor for his sustained support to the NYSC Governing Board and his concern over the needs of the NYSC in the state.
