THE Lagos State Police Command has announced the arrest of two suspected Yoruba Nation agitators who reportedly stormed the Alausa Police Division of the Command chanting Yoruba Nation has taken over and consequently injuring some Police officers who were trying to disperse them.

In a statement by the Lagos Police spokesman, Mr Benjamin Hundeyin, the agitators, numbering about fifteen, claimed that they came to officially inform the Police that the United Nations had approved the take-off of the Yoruba Nation.

He said that the two of the agitators were arrested while the rest took to their heels following the prompt and coordinated response of the police.

Mr Hundeyin said that the suspects, who were arrested with charms, dangerous weapons and different offensive insignias bearing Yoruba Nation Army, stormed the Division at about the same time another set of the group was attempting to take over a radio station in Ibadan, Oyo State.

According to Mr Hundeyin, the arrested suspects are currently assisting the Police in the ongoing investigation into the subversive plans of the group as well as their sponsors.

He added that the Commissioner of Police, Mr Idowu Owohunwa, has warned all subversive elements to stay away from the state as the Command will not hesitate to apply the law on them.

Eighteen-Eleven Media had earlier reported how a similar scenario played out in Ibadan at about the same time when some persons, who claimed to be agitations of. a Yoruba Nation, seized Radio Nigeria, Amuludun FM 99.1 in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, taking over broadcast for more than an hour.

A source said that the agitators, who besieged the station around 5:40 am in an 18-seater bus, were armed with dangerous weapons and charms, threatening to deal decisively with any staff member who refused to cooperate with them.

However, four out of the agitators, among whom was a lady, were arrested by the police with the assistance of the Nigerian army, while others ran in different directions to evade arrest.
